CREATIVE CONNECTIONS IN HORIZON 2020: Interdisciplinary workshop for the Societal Challenges of Health, Food (including Marine Research/Blue Growth) and Secure Societies

Tuesday, 11th February 2014

Hogan Mezzanine Suite, Conference Centre, Croke Park

The Irish Research Council and its partners - the Health Research Board, Enterprise Ireland and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine – are hosting an interdisciplinary workshop to explore the cross-disciplinary possibilities Horizon 2020 offers to Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and their researchers.

Balancing targeted presentations with the opportunity to develop connections across disciplines, this workshop will provide a unique forum for structured networking. Designed as an interactive workshop, the event also offers researchers the chance to engage directly with experts from various backgrounds and to consult them about the practicalities of interdisciplinary projects.

Participants therefore will have the opportunity to benefit from the experience of active interdisciplinary research projects; gain insights from assessors about the distinguishing features of innovative and outstanding interdisciplinary projects; and get advice on the mechanics of crafting an interdisciplinary project proposal for Horizon 2020.

Speakers include Dr Catherine Halbert (Halbert Research), Professor Carme Borrell (ASPB-Barcelona Public Health Agency), Professor Margaret Barry (NUIG), Dr Maura Conway (DCU) and David Murphy (AquaTT). The final agenda will be available in due course and registration will open soon on the IRC website, watch for updates on www.research.ie/Horizon2020

If you are a researcher interested in hearing how collaboration across disciplines has worked in areas associated with the Societal Challenges, or wish to meet like-minded researchers, save this date for your diary. We hope you will join us for this unique interactive networking experience.
