President of Ireland meets Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting awardees
On May 28th, President Michael D. Higgins hosted a reception at Áras an Uachtaráin to mark the new partnership between the Irish Research Council and the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting and to congratulate the first four awardees under the scheme, of which he is patron.
These four Irish-based awardees will travel to Lake Constance, Germany, from June 30th to July 5th to meet with more than 30 Nobel Laureates from the field of Chemistry, as well as more than 600 other leading international scientists from around 80 countries.
Before the reception, Professor Orla Feely and Dr Eucharia Meehan, Chair and Director of the Irish Research Council, and Nikolaus Turner, Managing Director of the Lindau Foundation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding setting out a commitment to support the regular participation of Irish-based researchers in these meetings over the coming years.
