Upcoming launch of WhichCandidate.ie as part of #LoveIrishResearch public programme for February
Funded in part by the Irish Research Council, WhichCandidate.ie is a new website to be launched on 4 February 2016 that aims to provide voters with the information they need to make an informed decision in the upcoming election.
All candidates standing for election have been given a profile page on the site where they can set out their main policies. In addition, voters can indicate their position on the issues they care about, and they will be shown which candidates in their constituency they agree with. It is based on a comprehensive survey of parties and candidates carried out by the research team.
WhichCandidate.ie is run in partnership with The Irish Times and a number of local media outlets. It is part of a larger project examining political representation in Ireland, led by Dr Rory Costello of the University of Limerick.
The research examines the nature of the policy choices presented to Irish voters, the responsiveness of candidates to the views of their constituents, and the extent to which voters share the views of the representatives they elect.
