The Research Council is currently finalising details for the 2015 Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme and the 2015 Employment Based Programme. Further information and supporting documentation will be available on the Irish Research Council website once the final dates have been confirmed. In the meantime, the Council wishes to advise interested parties of the indicative Funding Call timings as follows:

The timings provided here are purely indicative, and the earliest likely open and closing dates, and may be subject to change by the Council. Potential applicants should also note that, once dates are finalised and Terms and Conditions are published by the Council, they must carefully ascertain whether they are eligible to apply to the scheme.

2015 Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme

The Council offers a number of opportunities through the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme for suitably qualified individuals to pursue a postgraduate degree in any discipline at an eligible HEI within Ireland. In addition, a number of targeted Scholarships are offered in collaboration with our strategic funding partners. Please note that applicants may only apply for one Scholarship.



Government of Ireland Scholarship

The Irish Research Council Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship supports suitably qualified Research Masters and Doctoral candidates pursuing or intending to pursue full-time research in any discipline. 

Andrew Grene Postgraduate Scholarship in Conflict Resolution

The Conflict Resolution Unit of the Department of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the Council, will fund research to examine areas relevant to the work of the Conflict Resolution Unit, including women, peace and security; mediation; post-conflict resolution and conflict prevention.

National Forum Postgraduate Scholarship for Teaching & Learning in Higher Education

The National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, in partnership with the Council, will fund research in areas relevant to the work of the Forum, furthering its mission to examine how to enhance teaching and learning across the entire Higher Education sector.

Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) Education Postgraduate Scholarship

Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), in partnership with the Council, will fund research to further enhance Ireland’s science awareness/outreach activities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics well as enhancing the Irish public awareness of the sciences.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Science Policy & Innovation

**New scholarship to be offered in 2015**

Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), in partnership with the Council, will fund research with an emphasis on science policy and innovation, to include modelling economic impact; exploitation of Intellectual Property; research mobility; scientific methodology for identifying emerging areas of potential economic importance; and strategies for promoting innovation in multinational corporations.

Scholarships with additional strategic funding partners may be included in the final call documentation.

2015 Employment Based Programme

The Irish Research Council Employment Based Programme (EBP) begin with a pilot scheme in 2012 and serves as a unique mechanism for creating jobs and research opportunities for early career postgraduate researchers.

The EBP is open to any sector or discipline; no thematic or subject limitations apply to proposed research projects. The programme is also a key national mechanism through which Strategic Partners can deliver on the National Research Prioritisation Exercise (NRPE). The Strategic Partners for the 2015 Call are:
